BALLET :: Ages 3+
Canadian School of Ballet offers world-class dance education in Kelowna. At The Canadian School of Ballet in Kelowna, we teach and study The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. RAD is a worldwide organization that governs ballet through a series of graded exams and is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organizations.
Ballet serves as a backbone for many other styles of dance, as many other dance genres are based on ballet.
RAD ballet exams are a set of predefined steps, exercises, and dances that students learn and practice throughout the year. Each year, students register for these formal exams through the recommendation of their teacher. Typically, exams occur in the fall and in late spring.
Please note that students can advance to the next graded level without completing an RAD Ballet Exam.
Children who are in Grade 2 ballet and up, require a minimum of 2 classes each week in their designated exam level. It is important to note that RAD grade level does not necessarily correspond with academic grade level.
How old does my child need to be to register for ballet?
Dancers can start taking ballet at CSB at the age of 3. Dancers do not start taking ballet exams until they are in Grade 2 ballet.
